Technology and equipment
The Bünne Swine Center is equipped with cutting-edge technology, from feed and watering systems to ventilation.
Feed application
The pigs are fed via a Schauer Spotmix system, ensuring ideal supply and the documentation of all key parameters. This, for example, enables mapping of daily feed consumption for each bay. The system weighs and transports the appropriate feed quantities separately to each of the 96 trial bays. Compressed-air transport prevents contamination of different feed mixtures. Two micropart dosers can also dose powdered additives.
Water application
Two dosimeters provide the additional capability of delivering specific liquid and water-soluble supplements. Water consumption can be mapped for each pen. Semi-transparent water lines make it possible to monitor effects of additives (such as biofilm formation) on the pipes. Warm-water tanks are installed to provide temperature-controlled water for drinking or cleaning the pens.
Ventilation
Fresh air is delivered into the pens through the insulated roof space so that the temperature in the pens remains ideal for various climatic conditions. Underfloor extraction keeps harmful manure gases from accumulating in the pigs‘ living space and in conjunction with the exhaust air system, maintains ideal conditions for the livestock. This technology ensures that the air quality and temperature is identical throughout the pens. Harmful gases such as ammonia can be measured for each pen as necessary.
